Around 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing strong winds topping over 100 km/h.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact

Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that various areas across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Meanwhile, approximately one thousand households in the southern state also experienced energy failures after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

During the peak on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were without power.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both regions.

Safety Concern

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
